Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint against Deputy Chief Manish Sisodia and AAP Lawmaker Amanatullah Khan for their alleged involvement in 'riots at Jamia Millia Islamia'. The Delhi Police has registered a case against Okhla legislator Amanatullah Khan and one more person in the case of violence in Jamia Nagar.
According to police, two FIRs have been filed against them. The case relates to arson, rioting, damage to government property and obstructing government work.
A local BJP leader complained that Amanatullah Khan gave a controversial speech that led to clashes between protestors and police in the national capital.
"He incited people after which violence erupted in Shaheen Bagh area and a CNG bus was set on fire and vehicles were damaged," said the complaint by Abhishek Dubey, who is an office-bearer with BJP Purvanchal Morcha.
The complaint said that apart from damage to public property, it "amounts to an attempt at inciting communal violence".
Another complaint has been filed by Amit Chowdhury, a resident of Jasola village, at Sarita Vihar police station.
"Between 2 pm to 2.30 pm at Jasola red light, MLA Amanatullah Khan and his associates were provoking people and asking them to burn public buses. He was having lathi in his hand and stopped the traffic movement in the area," said the complaint.
However, Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan, who is apparently the MLA alluded to by Tiwari, denied the accusations.
"Some TV channels have run the news that protesters under my leadership have torched buses, which is wrong. I protested near Shaheen Bagh where nothing untoward happened," he told reporters.
