An 87-year-old woman in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur constructed a toilet near her house to make the village open defecation free. The woman named Rakkhi single-handedly constructed the toilet, according to a report in ANI.

The woman strived hard to make her village open defecation free and set up an example for the people of the country.

The District Administration Team of the village had launched several awareness camps about the 'Swach Bharat Mission’ and made the villagers aware of the harmful effects of defecating in open, the report in ANI suggested.

It was Rakkhi who led from the front and decided to build her own toilet. While speaking to ANI, the role model for several people said that she was defecating in open without knowing its effects.

''I'm happy that more and more people are coming forward now to build toilets in their houses'’, she told the news agency.

Deputy Commissioner Udhampur applauded the woman for her work done and said that it was time for people to change their traditional mindset. He told ANI that the lady would be provided every possible help.
