J-K Civic Poll Results: BJP wins 43 seats out of 75 in Jammu Municipal Board

The counting of votes for the 52 civic bodies in Jammu and Kashmir is underway on Saturday and the results of the same will be announced later in the day. The elections in the 79 municipal bodies across the state were held in four phases on October 8, 10, 13 and 16, respectively. A total of 17 lakh votes were eligible to exercise their franchise. As many as 3372 nominations were filed for 1145 wards.

Of 79 civic bodies, elections could not be held in 27 civic bodies in the Valley due to no candidate or only one candidate had filed nominations. In the absence of two major regional parties – National Conference (NC) and the People's Democratic Alliance (PDP) – the fight is between the traditional rivals the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
