At least three militants were killed in an encounter that broke out on Saturday morning between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The identity of the militants is yet to be ascertained. A cordon and search operation was launched in Sirnoo village of the district after receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
As the searches were going on, the militants fired upon the government forces triggering a gunfight. Internet services have been suspended in the area. "All the three terrorists are locals and belong to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit,†according to reports.

On Thursday, two terrorists were killed in the Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramullah district. Thee troops of 179 Battalion CRPF, SOG Sopore, 22 RR carried out the encounter.Â
