“Four militants were killed in Bijbehara's Arwani operation in Anantnag district while two ultras were eliminated in an encounter at Kreeri in Baramulla,” a senior police official said.

According to police report, the intense gunfight started after the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khar Mohalla of Arwani.

One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Sahil Makroo of Arwani village, police said.

Meanwhile, in the earlier gunfight, security forces, after receiving information of militants had sneaked in the area, launched a search operation in the early hours in the Kreeri area, the official said, adding the militants opened fire on the security forces triggering an encounter.

The identity of the two slain militants, affiliated to Lashkar-e-Toiba, was being ascertained, police said.
