An encounter between security forces and terrorists broke out on Wednesday in Kakpora's Banderpora in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. LeT commander Ayub Lelhari was killed in the encounter.

"He (Ayub Lelhari) was one of the most wanted terrorists. It's a great success for the forces," said SP Vaid, DGP J&K.

"LeT's Ayub Lelhari killed; was also involved in civilian killings, bank robbery. AK47 rifle, magazine, ammunition recovered," said Lt col Ashish Jhingan.

Earlier on Sunday, at least three terrorists including chief operations commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Yaseen Itoo were killed in an encounter with security forces in Awneera village of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian.

Five soldiers were also injured in the encounter, two among them succumbed to injuries while two other terrorists escaped. The encounter broke out on Saturday evening and ended around noon on Sunday.
