Security forces on Friday gunned down two militants after an encounter broke out in Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, news agency ANI reported.

Acting on a tip-off by local sources about the presence of militants in Watergam area of Sopore, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

As the security forces were closing in, the militants hiding in a house open fired on them, prompting the security personnel to retaliate.
