Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces gun down 3 terrorists in Pulwama’s Hayuna Tral

Amid high-pitched political drama between ruling PDP and the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Hayuna Tral area of Pulwama in the militancy-hit state.

"Encounter between security forces & terrorists breaks out in Pulwama's Hayuna Tral,' the news agency ANI reported.

In a separate encounter on Monday, four terrorists were gunned down by the security forces in Bandipora district.

Notably, the encounter came a day after Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced that there would be no extension to the unilateral ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir beyond Eid.

Earlier on May 16, the Centre approved Mehbooba Mufti's proposal to impose a ceasefire in Kashmir valley keeping in mind the holy month of Ramzan. Following the month-long halting of operations along LoC, Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a huge spurt in terror attacks.

The bullet-ridden body of abducted Army man, identified as Aurangzeb, a rifleman with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles was found after an extensive search operation on Thursday.

Shujaat Bukhari, the editor of Rising Kashmir newspaper, was killed in Srinagar just before the Centre's Ramzan ceasefire ended. The assassination of the senior journalist evoked strong condemnations from across the media industry, triggering a debate on Centre's decision to impose a ceasefire in the terror affected state.
