J&K: Security forces gun down two LeT terrorists in Anantnag encounter; operation ends

Another encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday morning.

The gun fight was underway when the last reports came in.  However, no casualties have been reported in the incident so far.

Meanwhile, in a different incident, an exchange of fire has started between terrorists and security forces near Keran sector in Kupwara district.

Both the encounters came a day after an army jawan was killed as terrorists on Tuesday attacked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party at Srinagar's Batmaloo.

# 12:19 pm: On basis of incriminating materials seized, it's established they belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba. One of the terrorists was identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar. Identity of the other terrorist is yet to be ascertained: Jammu and Kashmir police.

# 10:48 am: Two terrorists have been gunned down in the encounter which started in Anantnag this morning. The encounter has concluded, combing operation is underway. The terrorists are yet to be identified.

# 09:12 am: An exchange of fire has started between terrorists and security forces near Keran sector in Kupwara district.

# 07:16 am: Encounter underway between terrorists and security forces in Anantnag.

In recent times, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a huge spurt in terror activities.

Earlier on Sunday, three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were gunned down in an encounter in Wani Mohalla area of Kulgam's Khudwani.

On July 13, one CRPF personnel was killed while another was seriously injured in a terrorist attack in Anantnag's Sheer Pora.
