New Delhi:

In yet another encounter with terrorists at Muniward-Harnag area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, security forces were engaged in heavy shooting, according to police. The operation, which is being carried out by the police, Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) gunned down two militants in the gunfight that broke out this morning.

The slain terrorists, who were part of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, have been identified as Altaf Ahmad Dar and Umar Rashid Wani, two of the close aids of late commander Burhan Wani.

A cordon and search operation were launched in Muniward village of Khanabal area in the wee hours following specific information about the presence of militants in the region, police said. Following this ongoing operation at Anantnag, mobile and internet services have been suspended in the district, 61 km from Srinagar.
