An encounter ensued between security forces and militants at Laddi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district in early morning of Sunday. "Encounter underway between security forces and terrorists in Shopian's Laddi," according to reports.
Security forces, along with a special operations group (SOG) of police, army's 44 RR and CRPF troopers launched a cordon and search operation in Shopian's Laddi Imamsahab village following specific inputs of the presence of terrorists in the area.
The militants are believed to be two to three in number and opened fire on the forces triggering off a gun fight this morning. The gunfight was underway when the last reports came in.

saturday, three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bandipora district, while another two were gunned down in a separate encounter on Friday, August 30, 2018.
On August 29, two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including its commander Altaf Ahmed Dar alias Altaf Kachroo, one of the oldest surviving terrorist, were killed in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
