A Boder Security Force (BSF) jawan died in the unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan on Thursday in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir . The Indian security forces are giving a befitting reply to unprovoked firing.

The BSF jawan had suffered fatal injuries in the unprovoked firing. The injured jawan has been identified as Ct Tapan Mandal was rushed to local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased BSF trooper is a resident of West Bengal. His death was confirmed by BSF DIG Dharmendra Pareekh.

Security officials believe the mortar shells and firing by Pakistan Rangers from across the border is being done to distract the attention of Indian forces to pave way for infiltration.

The last ceasefire violation was reported on October 23 and 24 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowgam sector of Handwara area. The Indian Army has also retaliated strongly. Intermittent exchange of fire was reported between Indian army personnel and Pakistani troops in the Uri sector along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, forcing the authorities to shutdown schools in the affected areas. An army official had informed there were no fresh casualties on the Indian side in the exchange of fire.
