Jammu and Kashmir: Five Pakistani soldiers killed, several posts destroyed as India retaliates

Acting swiftly against Pakistan, Indian security forces on Monday gunned down several Pakistani soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the initial reports, at least five Pakistani soldiers were killed and several posts along the border were destroyed by the Indian Army.

The Indian action came as a retaliatory measure against Pakistan's continuous violation of ceasefire along the border in Jammu and Kashmir. For the last 24 hours, Pakistan was violating ceasefire and firing mortar shells in Rajouri and Poonch sector. 

So far, Indian Army has not released any official statement but sources said that the action was taken after Pakistan’s continuous violation of ceasefire along the LoC.

Security personnel killed in an encounter in Pulwama

Meanwhile, a security force personnel was injured in an encounter with militants in a forest area of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in Laam forest of Tral area in Pulwama district following information about presence of militants there, a police official said.

He said a gun battle broke out between militants and the security forces when the ultras opened fire.

A security force personnel received bullet injuries while the operation was still underway, the official said.
