Two militants were gunned down on Tuesday in an encounter with security forces in Guloora village of Handwara in North Kashmir, police said.
According to official reports, security forces launched a cordon and search operation on early Tuesday morning following specific information about the presence of militants in Kupwara district, the official said.
The operation turned into violent after militants initiated and fired upon the forces, police said.

The forces are yet to confirmed the identity and its group affiliation of the two slain militants, they said.
No casualties of the security forces have been reported so far, police said.
Meanwhile, more details are awaited as the search and operation still underway.
