Japan will simplify its visa rules for Indians and issue multiple-entry-visa for short term stay from beginning of 2018, Japanese embassy on Tuesday said.

The embassy also said that the visa regime will not only have simplification of visa application documents but also expansion of scope of eligible applicants. Under the simplification of visa application documents, the applicant’s employment certificate and explanation letter stating the reason will be exempted.

Japanese foreign ministry in a statement said, “Applicants will be able to apply for multiple-entry-visa with only three documents including passport visa application form including a photo, papers to prove financial capability and documents to prove applicants affiliation to certain enterprises.”

People carrying multiple entry visas can travel the country with 5 years with a maximum stay of 90 days. "The relaxations are expected to help further development of people-to-people exchanges between Japan and India," the release said.

Now the Indian students including graduate students and alumni of universities in India can submit certificate of student status or graduation instead of the financial prove capabilty document for single entry visa for short-term stay.
