Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaya Prada on Friday challenged Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan's Lok Sabha victory from Rampur constituency.  The BJP leader, who unsuccessfully contested general elections against Khan, has demanded his disqualification under the office of profit law.

In her petition, the actor-turned-politician also accused him of involving in corrupt practice for winning the election.

Her lawyer and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh was also present with Jaya Prada. The petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court.

Earlier, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had dismissed her a writ petition challenging the election of Azam Khan from the Rampur parliamentary constituency.

A bench comprising Justice Rajan Roy and Justice N K Jauhari dismissed the writ petition of BJP leader Jaya Prada on the grounds of lack of territorial jurisdiction.

The bench said Rampur falls under the jurisdiction of the Allahabad High Court and hence, a petition in the Lucknow bench is not maintainable.

The court also said that the writ petition itself is not maintainable and only an election petition can be moved in such circumstances. The petition was filed by Jaya Prada and argued by her lawyer Amar Singh.
