More than a month after the demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, her niece  Deepa Jayakumar, who resembles Amma, on Tuesday announced that she will make her debut in politics in Tamil Nadu.

Deepa Jayakumar said that she will announce her next political step on Jayalaithaa's birthday, February 24.

She also said that she will either join AIADMK or will float a new political party.

“I have 2 options one is to join AIADMK or to float a new party, will discuss with my supporters before making a decision,” she was quoted as saying by ANI.

“There are many rumours being spread just to defame me, and people don't know the reality. What the Sasikala family is claiming is false that Jayalalithaa was working based on their ideas,” she said.

Deepa Jayakumar also said that she “cannot accept anyone else in Jayalalithaa's position.” She said that she will not lay claim to Jayalalithaa's assets.
