Terrorist Zakir Moosa spotted in Amritsar; infiltration scare triggers High Alert in Punjab, Delhi

New Delhi:

Security agencies have been put on high alert following specific inputs about the presence of at least seven Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, including Zakir Moosa aka Zakir Rashid Bhatt in Amritsar, Punjab.

According to a statement, released by intelligence agencies this evening, Moosa, the dreaded terrorist, who is in charge of 'Ansar Gazwat ul Hind' was spotted in Amritsar and is said to be planning a fedayeen attack on police personnel deployed in the state of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

In view of this possible terror attack in Kashmir valley, the Dinanagar police station has released posters of Moosa, SSP Gurdaspur said.

In early November, another intel report warned of a terror strike in the Kashmir Valley by Al-Qaeda commander Zakir Moosa in collaboration with some Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists, who were spotted hiding in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.

Meanwhile, Police personnel in Punjab and national capital region have been alerted after discovering about the presence of at least half-a-dozen terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Ferozepur area. The terror group is said to be moving towards the national capital and would infiltrate into Indian border anytime soon.

A letter issued by the Counter Intelligence Inspector General reads, "At least six to seven terrorists are reportedly in Punjab (possibly Ferozepur area) and planning to move towards Delhi from Punjab side." The note advised the authorities to beef up security, especially along the border and keep an eye on all movements in and around Delhi.
