Jharkhand Police recovered mutilated body of an abducted Indian Army personnel hanging from a tree near a railway cabin in Bokaro’s Balidih, around 120 kilometers from state capital Ranchi.

The deceased Indian Army personnel has been identified as Subedar Major Pushpendra Singh Chauhan. He is a resident of Deogaon village in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district and was deployed in Ranchi.

According to police, deceased Indian Army personnel was missing around 10 days back from his camp in Ranchi’s Kantatoli. A missing complaint was lodged with the Khelgaon police station which was later upgraded to abduction case.

Bokaro Police said, the Indian Army personnel jawan’s mutilated and decomposing body was found hanging from a tree in forested. The body was first sighted by railway employees engaged in track repair works, who informed the police.

Officials of Bokaro Police identified the body as Subedar Major Pushpendra Singh from the documents recovered. The body’s postmortem was conducted in presence of a magistrate and senior Indian Army officials of 163 Medium Regiment.

Police suspect the Indian Army jawan was murdered the day he was abducted. Bokaro Police officials said, “We are investigating the case in all angles. We have also sent a sample for DNA test.”

According to sources Indian Army has also launched a parallel investigation in the abduction and murder of the deceased.
