Gujarat Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop targeting Dalits across the country or he will face the music in 2019.
The 36-year-old Gujarat MLA during a press conference in Delhi’s press club said, “If atrocities against Dalits continue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi we will teach you a lesson in 2019."
Mewani also added, “PM Modi is a self-proclaimed Amberkarite, a follower of Dr BR Ambedkar. If he is one, why is he silent? Why are Dalits in Pune and across the country being targeted? We want to to know what plans he has to annihilate caste system.”

The Dalit youth leader during the press meet announced to lead a youth rally on January 9 in the national capital to the PM's door.
Mewani said, "We will carry a Manusmriti and the Constitution along with us. We will ask PM what he chooses."
The Dalit leader also informed the media that he is being targeted and denied allegations of making any provocative speech made during a Dalit function on December 31, a day before Pune Blast.
Mewani claimed, “Not a single word of my speech was inflammatory. I being targeted. No part of my speech was provocative.”
Mewani talking to media also said, “Member of the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh made a childish attempt to tarnish my image to target me.”
“They are doing it out of frustration. It is an after effect of the Gujarat results. They arrogantly believed they would win 150 seats in Gujarat but were stopped at 99. They also sense a fear of losing 2019 elections,” said Mewani.
He further added, "I am a trained lawyer, I respect the law, I am also a lawmaker now. The charges against me are a "childish attempt" to target me.”
