An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Sopore district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. According to reports, two terrorists are believed to be holed up at Gund Brath area of Sopore in Baramulla district.

The search operation was launched at Mir Mohalla area of Gund Brath village following specific information about the presence of terrorists inside a residential house.

Meanwhile, authorities have reportedly suspended internet services in Sopore town to prevent any law and order problem. Some colleges in the area have been closed as a precautionary measure.

Earlier on July 5, a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Batpore-Narwani area of Imam Sahib in Shopian district of south Kashmir, security forces launched a cordon and search operation Friday morning, a police official said.

As the forces were conducting searches of the area, the terrorists fired upon them, he said.

The forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter in which one terrorist was killed, the official said, adding the body was recovered along with arms and ammunition.
