New Delhi:

An encounter began between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Batnoor area of Pulwama district on Friday. After gunshots were heard in Batnoor Lassipora, area was cordoned off by security forces.

The terrorists reportedly had opened fire on security forces and when forces fired back in retaliatory firing the terrorists managed to flee.

A day before a 6-year old girl was killed with stray bullet during cross firing in north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Thursday. Her 7-year-old elder brother had sustained injuries in as bullets flew in the house which was just short distance away.

Fierce encounters have been on rise from last few days. Last month, four army men, including a Major, and an equal number of militants were killed while 8 other security personnel and a civilian were injured in two separate encounters in Kashmir.
