J&K: IED found on the Jammu-Poonch highway, defused by Army’s bomb disposal squad

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was on Tuesday found on the Jammu-Poonch highway in Poonch district in the state but was safely defused by the Army’s bomb disposal squad.

The locally-made IED was detected on the highway at Totagali in Bhimbher Gali area of the district on Tuesday, police said, adding that a team was rushed which recovered the IED from the area.

Traffic was immediately stopped on both sides and bomb disposal squad of Army was pressed into service, they said, adding that the IED was defused. Later traffic movement was also restored, they said.
