J&K: Terrorists killed ex-sarpanch in Shopian; family members kill one of assailants

In the latest incident of terror attack, militants shot dead a former sarpanch belonging to the ruling PDP party in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir while the deceased’s family members killed one of the assailants in a scuffle during the attack late evening on Monday, police said.

“Three terrorists fired upon and killed ex-panch of PDP Mohammad Ramzan in Shopian,” a senior police official said.

He said the family members of the deceased entered into a scuffle with the assailants in which one of the militants was killed.

The slain militant has been identified as Showkat Ahmad, a local resident, the official said.
