Noted saxophone exponent Kadri Gopalnath passed away in the early hours of Friday at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The Padmashree awardee was 69 and was ailing for some time.
Kadri Gopalnath was born in Mittakere in Sajeepa Mooda village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada in 1950. He pioneered the use of Saxophone instrument in main stream movies.
According to a report of thenewscrunch.com, Kadri Gopalnath would practice saxophone in his place at Kadri-Mallikatte starting as early as 5am in 1970. The nearby people could hear it from their home. His was single minded focus to master saxophone. Well, he became the master of it.
He is survived by his wife and two sons of which Manikanth Kadri is a noted music director. The family is waiting for his another son who is in Kuwait to arrive here for completing the last rites at his home in Padavinangady.
