The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, who was allegedly planning to attack on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, from Kanpur.
Director General of Police OP Singh said the militant, identified as Qamar-Uz-Zama from Assam, had gone for training in Kashmir in April 2017.

“The ATS has arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist from Kanpur. He apparently had plans to attack on occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. During questioning he told us that he had gone for training to Kashmir in April 2017. He is of Indian nationality and is a literate person,” OP Singh was quoted by ANI as saying.
