Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah suggests removal of Hindi signboards from Namma Metro

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday wrote to Urban Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar over Hindi signages in Namma Metro. Siddaramaiah has suggested to remove the Hindi signboards in Namma Metro.

"Request government of India to acknowledge cultural aspirations of people of Karnataka and practical utility of Kannada and English for signages in Namma Metro," said Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah said stand of the central government of using the three language formula is not reasonable.

Earlier, protests were seen at some parts of Bengaluru following Hindi signboards at some of the metro stations in the state

In protest, pro-Kannada activists blackened the boards. Metro stations including Yeshwanthpur, Rajajinagara, Jayanagara and Peenya saw a massive uproar by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists, police said.
