Karnataka Elections: Exit polls divided over Congress, BJP; predicts photo finish

As polling for 222 of the 224-member Karnataka Assembly concluded, different media organisations and poll observers were struggling to predict a possible scenario.

While some exit polls predict another term for Congress' Siddaramaiah, others tell a different story all together and claim a victory for the BJP's BS Yeddyurappa.

Meanwhile, some organisations repeat the same story of pre-poll surveys - a hung Assembly with the Congress and the BJP in neck-and-neck and JD(S) emerging as the kingmaker. 

NEWS NATION EXIT POLL:

According to the exit poll conducted by News Nation, Karnataka assembly won't see any party taking the complete majority. The exit poll has given BJP 38 per cent of the votes with 99-108 seats predicted for the Narendra Modi-led party, whereas Congress has been given 35 per cent of the votes with a win over 75-84 seats.

JD(S) has been touted as the kingmaker as per the News Nation exit polls, with 19 per cent votes winning 31-40 seats.

Whereas, Other parties are expected to get 8 per cent of the total votes, with 03-07 seats.

IndiaTV-VMR:

According to the India TV-VMR Exit Poll, there was no wave of any single party visible in Karnataka. The Exit Poll predicted a hung assembly in the southern state with the Congress emerging as the single largest party with 97 seats and the BJP close second with 87 seats.

The exit poll predicted 35 seats for the JD(S) plus alliance.

India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll:

According to the exit poll conducted by India Today and Axis My India, the Congress can emerge not just Single largest party but cross the majority mark of 112 seats. 

The exit poll has given the Congress 106 to 118 seats. 

The post poll survey predicted 72-92 seats for the BJP and 22-30 seats for the JD(S).

Republic TV-Jan Ki Baat:

As per Republic TV-Jan Ki Baat survey, BJP is running ahead with 95-114 seats

ABP-CVoter:

ABP-CVoter survey gives BJP the edge with 97-109 seats.

TV9 Kannada:

TV9 Kannada gives BJP the lead with 103 seats

Times Now-VMR: 

Times Now-VMR has given Congress the nod with 90-103 seats.

NewsX-CNX:

NewsX-CNX survey predicted a win for BJP with 102-110 seats.

In the previous 2013 Assembly elections, BJP got 40 seats, while Congress won 122 seats. JD(S) won 40 and other parties won 22 seats.
