The Karnataka Police seized Rs 71 lakh in new Rs 2,000 currency notes from a car in Bailoor area on Friday. 

The police have arrested three persons in this regard.

The matter has been handed over to the income tax department for further investigation.

On Thursday, the income tax sleuths had seized more than Rs 4.7 crore in new currency notes after conducting searches in premises of two individuals in Bengaluru.

The search was carried out by the Income-Tax department of Karnataka and Goa at the residences of two state government engineers and two contractors on Wednesday.
