Kashmiri youth second to none: Omar

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the youth of the state were second to none in talent and determination but deserved the best facilities and avenues to hone their skills.

“Our youth have proven their mettle in the fields of academics as well as sports and have excelled at national and international platforms.

“Despite a prolonged period of turmoil in the Valley, Kashmiri youth have demonstrated an indomitable spirit of resilience to become achievers in their respective fields and it is this trait of theirs that will shape a bright future for our state and its people,” Omar said.

He was speaking after inaugurating Narbal Premiere League T-20 Cricket Tournament in his Beerwah Assembly constituency in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Omar also released an amount of Rs two lakh to the youth for the tournament.

The former chief minister exhorted the youth to take a leading role in evolving solutions to the social, political and economic challenges faced by the state.

“You are our future and you have to lead from the front and show the way. In your empowerment lies our future. Your skills and imagination hold the key to the state’s prosperity,” Omar, who is the National Conference working president, said.
