The lawyer representing the family of the eight-year-old girl, who was gang-raped and brutally murdered in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua, on Monday said that she would approach the Supreme Court seeking protection as there was a threat to her life.

“I can be raped or killed... I was threatened yesterday by people telling me that they will not forgive me,” Deepika S Rawat, lawyer representing the eight-year-old girl’s family, told reporters.

In view of the threat to her life, she would approach the Supreme Court on Tuesday and inform about the threat, the lawyer added.

Earlier in the day, the girl’s father requested the Supreme Court to shift the trial to Chandigarh fearing life threat to him and his family.
