Kerala is facing the worst floods since 1924 as the death toll have climbed to a worrying 324 and is expected to rise further. Over two lakh people have been sheltered in relief camps according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Kerala government has asked people for donations to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) through its website. The donations are exempted from income tax as well as Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010.

The Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) website reads 

“Kerala is in the midst of an unprecedented flood havoc. The calamity has caused immeasurable misery and devastation. Many lives were lost. Hundreds of homes were totally destroyed and many more were damaged. For the first time in history, 27 dams in the State had to be opened. Never before had the State witnessed a calamity of this scale. In the fight against the flood, we have braved the odds.

Now it is our duty to help the affected rebuild their lives. The path to recovery can be long & arduous, but you can make a difference by joining the rebuilding efforts. Contribute generously to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund”.

Here’s how you can contribute:

1. You need to fill an online donation form. For this you need to your fill up your name, email address, mobile number and the donation amount. You can pay the amount online via your debit and credit cards. Once the transaction is successful, you will get a payment success notification on the display as well as on your email address.

2. You can also contribute by cheque/DD. For this you need to address the DD to:
