New Delhi:

Khoj Khabar Live: The death toll in Delhi's worst riots in more than three decades climbed to 38 on Thursday as the violence ebbed but did not subside completely and thousands of people began picking up the pieces of their shattered lives and livelihoods. Four days after communal clashes that began in northeast Delhi over the amended citizenship law and spiralled into bloodshed, arson and looting, the body of a man was found in a drain in Johri Enclave and there were scattered incidents of vehicles and shops being set on fire in Maujpur, Bhajanpura and other areas.

While there was no precise figure for the number of arrests, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Delhi High Court that 48 FIRs were lodged in relation to the violence. Delhi Police transferred the riots probe to the Crime Branch and formed two Special Investigation Teams.

Battle scarred and desolate with scorched, blackened walls, the ashen remains of vehicles, glass shards and bricks, several fires still burnt in the mostly mixed neighbourhoods of the national capital's northeastern edge.

Shops, pharmacies and other establishments were closed and people stayed indoors unless it was imperative to step out. Several families were seen leaving with whatever they could salvage from their vandalised homes.

Tonight on Khoj Khabar with Deepak Chaurasia, we will continue our debate from where we left last night and ask did the flares from Shaheen Bagh set Delhi on fire?

Khoj Khabar | Highlights:

"Had they not blocked Jaffrabad road, Kapil Mishra would not have gone there. Why did they block the road? Kapil Mishra didn't do anything wrong," says Awadhesh Kumar, senior journalist.

"Why should only Tahir Hussain be blamed for the Delhi riots? What about others?" asks Sanjeev Kumar, political analyst.

"'Shaheen Bagh' was made to break the nation. Women have been forced sit-in out of their frustration," says Shabnam Khan, social activist.

"The violence took place with an intention to break the country. The AAP should remove Tahir Hussain immediately," says Awadhesh Kumar, senior journalist.

"Give us some time. Let the police investigate the matter," says Rajesh Gupta, AAP MLA, on asked when the party will remove Tahir Hussain.

"You can't compare the allegations against Kapil Mishra and Tahir Hussain. If Kapil Mishra's comments were provocative, action should be taken against Rahul Gandhi, Swara Bhasker and others. Comments of Kapil Mishra can't be compared with Tahir Hussain's act," says Harish Khurana, BJP spokeperson.

"Action should be taken against all, be it Kapil Mishra or an AAP member," says Rajesh Gupta, AAP MLA.

"CM Arvind Kejriwal has clearly said if AAP members are involved in the Delhi violence, double publishment should be given to them," says  Rajesh Gupta, AAP MLA, when asked about party councillor Tahir Hussain.
