King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, the king and highest authority of Jordan, is on a three-day official visit to India starting on Wednesday. This will be his second visit to the country along with Queen Rania, after 2006.
King Abdullah II is said to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the course of his first day about the entire gamut of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. The two sides are expected to exchange Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) and agreements in various areas of bilateral relations.
President Ram Nath Kovind will be hosting a banquet in the honour of the Jordanian King, while Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will call on the visiting dignitary.
The Jordanian King will also participate in a CEO Round-table conference organised by the industrial bodies Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), and The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), followed by India-Jordan Business Forum.
The King is said to visit the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) on Wednesday to explore the institute’s collaboration with Jordan technical institutes.
On Thursday, he will deliver a special address on “Promoting Understanding and Moderation†organised by the India Islamic Centre at Vigyan Bhawan.
