When Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi went out on a mission on Friday night to assess the safety quotient of women after dark in the Union Territory, she might never, in her wildest thoughts, have imagined what her night ride on a two-wheeler sans helmet might snowball into. Â
LG Bedi rode pillion on a two-wheeler without putting on a helmet, and the person riding the vehicle followed the suit just like Madam Lieutenant Governor.

Bedi tweeted, “Just back from a night round. Went pillion riding on a scooter camouflaged. Felt Pondicherry safe for women, even at night. Shall repeat..â€
Following the adventurous tweet, there were reactions both that appreciated and criticized her night out, for her effort and violation of the law.
Meanwhile, Bedi has defended her decision of not wearing a helmet but Twitter users are not falling for it.
Not wearing helmet was a careful choice. Both wanted to appear vulnerable & wanted to see how we women driving a scooty at nite r looked at https://t.co/SkGfvQlBR6

Here are a few reactions:Â
On a lighter note you should have been booked for riding without helmet.

Breaking the law is "careful choice" for someone who swore to uphold the Constitution. Shame.

What this picture proves is that Pondicherry police isn't doing their job - people are blatantly breaking laws - as she was incognito so

Breaking the law
Can never be a matter of "Careful Choice"— Geet Varun (@geetv79) August 20, 2017
I will remember this excuse next time I am stopped by the police for not wearing helmet.
