The Inter-Services Public Relations has claimed that the alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav has filed a mercy petition to Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa. In the mercy petition, he has sought forgiveness for his involvement in espionage, terrorist and subversive activities, the ISPR said in a statement on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations has claimed that Jadhav has admitted that he was involved in espionage, terrorist and subversive activities in Pakistan. It also said that Jadhav has expressed regret over the loss of lives and damage to property due to his actions.

The ISPR said that Jadhav has requested the Pakistan Army chief to spare his life on compassionate grounds, the ISPR said in a statement on Thursday. Jadhav had reportedly filed an appeal to the Military Appellate Court earlier, which was rejected.

The ISPR has also released a second alleged confessional video of Jadhav which purportedly shows him accepting his acts of terrorism and espionage.

On June 16, International Court of Justice asked India to give its final submission on Kulbhushan Jadhav case by September 13, while Pakistan was given the deadline of December 13 for the same.

Pakistan has claimed that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has rejected India’s request to delay proceedings of Kubhushan Jadhav’s case until December.

Jadhav, 45, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court in April. In a hearing of the case on May 18, a 10-member bench at The Hague-based ICJ restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav.

India moved the ICJ against the death penalty on May 8. The next day, the global court stayed the sentence as a provisional measure.

Pakistan claims its security forces arrested him from its restive Balochistan province on March 3 last year after he reportedly entered from Iran. However, India maintains that he was kidnapped from Iran where he had business interests after retiring from the Navy.
