Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah created controversy on Friday by questioning Indian authorities whether Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is India’s personal property.

“Kya yeh tumare baap ka hai (Is this your fathers’ property),” News 18 website quoted Farooq Abdullah as saying while he was addressing a function in the Chenab Valley. His son, Omar Abdullah was also present at the function.

“Pakistan is one of the stakeholders (of the Kashmir issue) which even the government of India has accepted,” Abdullah reportedly said. He added that the government will have no option but to start talks with Pakistan so that the “atrocities through which people of Jammu and Kashmir are undergoing will come to an end.”

As per the report, Abdullah also mentioned that the government of India has no guts to recover PoK from Pakistan and Pakistan also does not have guts to snatch Kashmir from India. It is the innocent people of Kashmir who are suffering in between, he said.
