A beheaded body of 24-year-old Kashmiri youth was recovered on Thursday from Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said on Friday.

Jammu and Kashmir Police spokesperson confirmed the development and said, “The youth was brutally murdered by Lashkar-e-Taiba militants. He was abducted on Tuesday,” he added.

“The deceased Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, was abducted by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in the early hours of April 5,” the spokesperson added.

The police spokesperson further informed the media that terrorists led by Kashmiri militant Mohd Saleem Parrey barged into Bhat’s house and abducted him along with his father.

“The victim’s father somehow managed to escape from the militants. He has suffered bullet injuries and being is medically treated at a hospital,” the spokesperson added.  

According to sources, the LeT claimed the deceased to be a police informer.

According to police records, this is the second incident in a week’s time, when militants have attacked civilians in Bandipora district’s Hajin area.

Earlier, a private taxi driver Muntazir Ahmad Parrey was murdered by LeT terrorists after abducting him from his in-law’s residence. Two women were also assaulted by the militants.

Parrey, a resident of Hajin, had joined the LeT ranks last year.
