A militant believed to be the member of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has been arrested from Tujjer area of Sopore town in J-K's Baramulla district on Thursday, police said.

The militant named Umar was arrested during a joint search operation carried out by the J-K Police and 22 Rashtriya Rifles.

The operation was conducted following a tip-off regarding the presence of 2-3 militants in the area.

The latest arrest comes just a week after Indian forces nabbed two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants from the district on October and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession.

The security forces in the Valley are on high alert due to heightened tensions along the International Border and the Line-of-Control (LoC) where Pakistani troops are indulging in heavy shelling.
