A day after Centre revoked month-long unilateral ceasefire during Ramzan, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora area on Monday.
So far, four terrorists have been gunned down by the security forces in the ongoing encounter, reported ANI.
Following an intelligence about the presence of militants in the area, security forces on Monday morning launched an anti-militancy operation in Bandipora district. As the troops were closing in, the terrorists opened fire, prompting security personnel to retaliate.
Earlier on Sunday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had announced the resumption of the anti-terror operations in the Valley, which were suspended during the month of Ramzan.
Security forces have adopted a proactive approach setting up check barriers at various places across the valley including the summer capital of the state.
