Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagat Prakash on Monday thanked party’s senior leaders and workers for electing him as the new chief. During his address at the BJP headquarters, JP Nadda said, “I thank all my senior leaders and party workers for posing faith on me. I will take the party forward with best of my abilities.”

While thanking PM Modi for placing trust on him, JP Nadda further added, “I thank the venerable Prime Minister Modi for trusting me. I wholeheartedly thank him for his faith in handling the work of the world's largest party and taking it forward.”

"Today, we're the world's largest party that is in power in India. We have the highest number of MPs and MLAs in the country.  We aren't going to stop at this. There are some states left and we will make sure we reach to them as well,” JP Nadda said while addressing the gathering at the party headquarters.

During his speech JP Nadda heaped praises on BJP for electing him as the party president. Nadda said, “A simple worker like me, who didn't have a political background, who hails from a remote place in Himachal Pradesh - if someone like me is being given this responsibility then it is the speciality of BJP and it is possible only in BJP.”

J P Nadda was elected unopposed as the BJP national president on Monday after he emerged as the only leader in the fray following the nomination process in which his candidature was endorsed by top party leaders. Senior BJP leader Radha Mohan Singh, who is the incharge of the organisational election process, made the announcement at the party headquarters. Outgoing president Amit Shah and other senior leaders congratulated the Himachal Pradesh leader, who had been serving as the party’s working president. He will serve for three years at the helm.
