BJP national president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath addressed a public meeting in Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s bastion in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi on Tuesday.

Union minister Smriti Irani had already reached Amethi on Monday and took stock of rally's preparations.

Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, state minister Mohsin Raza, and MLC Lakshman Pasi will also participate in the rally.  

In a major political development on Monday, local Congress leader of Amethi Jang Bahadur Singh announced his decision to join the BJP.

Singh, who was a BSP MLA from 2003 to 2007 before joining the Congress, said he was "saddened" by the policies of the Congress and felt "enthused by the development-oriented politics" of the BJP.
