New Delhi:

The first meeting of the BJP parliamentary party during the ongoing session will be held today, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to lay down the agenda for its near 380 MPs, the highest-ever saffron tally in Parliament. Standing on the steep side of the road, India needs to push themselves to get back on track as they play against pumped Bangladesh today. The result of the last encounter will have huge implications on the race for the top four as Bangladesh, too desperately eyes for crucial two points to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockouts alive.

8.30 pm: Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL): Around 70 domestic arrivals and 81 domestic departures have been cancelled.

8.00 pm: Bihar government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on a PIL relating to children’s death from Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, stating 'the govt has been taking all possible steps to prevent the disease.'

6.13 pm: Riyaz Bhati, an aide of Dawood Ibrahim, arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti Extortion Cell (AEC).

6.00 pm: President of BJP Membership Committee, Shivraj Singh Chouhan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start a membership drive on July 6 from Banaras (Varanasi). BJP President Amit Shah will start the drive in Telangana.

4.20 pm: Ministry of Defence: Ministry extends ban on dealings with chopper-scam tainted firm Leonardo (erstwhile Finmecannica) for another 6 months. The ban was first imposed on the firm by the NDA govt in July 2014.

4.12 pm: Naresh, IMD Delhi: Uttarakhand will also experience good rainfall activity in next 4-5 days. But Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi will experience isolated to scattered rainfall at 25-50% stations, but there will only be light to moderate rainfall.

Saradha chit fund scam: Calcutta High Court extends the interim protection from arrest, to former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar till 22nd July. Main petition to be heard on July 15, modification plea on him traveling outside Kolkata will be heard on July 22.

11.50 am: CBI is conducting a special drive today and has begun searches at over 50 places in 18 cities across 12 states/union territories, in connection with bank fraud cases. 14 cases registered against accused including various companies/firms, their promoters/directors and bank officials.

11.40 am:
 Supreme Court refused to entertain a petition filed by BJP leader & lawyer, Ashwini Upadhyay, seeking a direction to all the state High Courts to modify their guidelines so that advocates with minimum 10 years’ practice can apply for the senior advocate designation.

11.30 am: 
Supreme Court asks the petitioner, who filed a PIL on malpractice by private hospitals in Kerala that certify patients as brain dead in order to harvest their organs for transplant, to bring on record some evidence and make some hospitals as parties in the case.

11.25 am: 
3 people, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the incident where a clash broke out between 2 groups over parking and a temple was vandalised on Sunday night, in Hauz Qazi area: News Agency ANI.

11.15 am: 
Forest Officer C Anitha has been discharged from KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad, where she was receiving treatment after being attacked allegedly by TRS workers in Sirpur Kagaznagar block of Komaram Bheem Asifabad dist, during a tree plantation drive on 29 June.

11 am: 
Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena on 18 dead after wall collapsed on hutments in Pimpripada, Malad East due to heavy rainfall today: It’s not BMC’s failure. It is an accident. It is because of heavy rainfall. There are several illegal constructions in Mumbai & BMC has nothing to do with it.

The actor-turned-politician has been alleged by Congress of ‘betraying the mandate’ of the people.

At least 21 people were killed in three separate cases of wall collapse in Mumbai, Kalyan and Maharashtra after heavy rains hit financial capital and areas around.

9.45 am: 
After a delayed arrival of the monsoon this year, the slowest onset in 45 years, the financial capital has received 550 mm of rainfall in two days, the highest over a two-day period in a decade.
