Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who was hospitalised at Fortis Escorts heart institute in a critical state, died at the age of 81 on Saturday. According to reports, the three-time Delhi chief minister from Congress had suffered a massive cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital. Dikshit breathed her last at 3.55 pm at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, doctors said. She was brought to the hospital on Saturday morning in a "critical condition with cardiac arrest". Her body will be taken to Congress headquarters today and after that it will be taken for funeral at 3 pm. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday arrived in the US on a three-day official trip. He is scheduled to address a gathering of thousands of Pakistani Americans at capitol One Arena in downtown Washington DC today.

9 am: Japanese were voting Sunday in an election for the upper house of parliament, where Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s ruling bloc is expected to keep the majority. Up for grabs are 124 seats in the less powerful of Japan’s two chambers that doesn’t choose the prime minister. There are 245 seats in the upper house, about half of which are elected every three years.
Media polls have indicated Abe’s ruling bloc is expected to keep the majority as most voters consider it as a safer choice over an opposition with uncertain track records. Opposition parties have focused on concerns over household finances, such as the impact from an upcoming 10% sales tax increase and strains on the public pension system amid an aging population.
8.45 am: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday arrived in the US on a three-day official trip. Along with foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the prime minister was welcomed by a large number of Pakistani Americans. Khan is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday during which the American leadership will press him to take “decisive and irreversible” actions against terrorist and militant groups operating from Pakistani soil and facilitate peace talks with the Taliban.

Dikshit breathed her last at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in Delhi, where she was admitted in a critical condition with cardiac arrest. As soon as the news of the senior Congress leader’s demise was shared, politicians across the party lines expressed the condolences and paid tributes to Dikshit, credited for changing the face of national capital. Her body will be taken to Congress headquarters on Sunday and after that it will be taken for funeral at 3 pm.
