Northern states reeled under nippy cold wave conditions on Thursday with mercury dipping below the freezing point in many areas.

Delhi woke up to a chilly morning on Thursday with the mercury settling two notches below normal. Chilly winds continued to make inclement weather more difficult for people, as poor visibility in the morning affecting rail services. However, there were no reports of Flight services being affected.

The drop in temperature has also created hazardous conditions in terms of air quality as particles are trapped in lower atmosphere. 

The weatherman has predicted that temperatures would fall further.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the skies will remain generally cloudy on Thursday and the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 22 degrees Celsius.
