Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the freedom fighters on the occasion of 75 years of ‘Quit India Movement’ via Twitter. He said that the entire country salute to all the women and men who took part in the movement.

In his another tweet, he said that the need of the hour was to free India in 1942 but now the issues are different. He also urged the country to take a pledge to free India from poverty, dirt, corruption, terrorism, casteism and communalism.

 

On the other hand, Congress president Sonia Gandhi said that the people in the government were political successors to those who had opposed the movement and cooperated with the British. Passing the resolution on Tuesday, the Congress Working Committee paid homage to the 1942 movement on its 75th anniversary.
