Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi filed nomination at party headquarters on Monday. He also met former President Pranab Mukherjee and former PM Dr Manmohan Singh at latter's residence. Senior Congress leaders Sushil Kumar Shinde, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mohsina Kidwai, and Sheila Dikshit were present at the occasion.

Rahul was accompanied by a host of senior leaders including Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
According to Mullapally Ramachandran, the chairman of the party’s Central Election Authority, Monday is the last date for filing of nominations and no one else has filed papers till Sunday.
Rahul Gandhi is likely to emerge as the lone candidate in the fray and decks have been cleared for his election as the Congress president, succeeding his mother Sonia Gandhi who has held the post for 19 years.
“So far 90 nomination forms have been given out to state unit delegates. No application for the nomination has been submitted so far and tomorrow is the last date for filing nominations,” he told.
