The power struggle within Samajwadi Party continued on Tuesday as the party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav failed to resolve the dispute despite a three-hour long meeting in Lucknow.

Talking to media soon after the meeting, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh’s right-hand man and uncle Ram Gopal Yadav said that there has been no truce in the Samajwadi Party.

“No compromise is in sight within Samajwadi Party. Both sides will present their case in front of Election Commission,” Ram Gopal said.

Akhilesh Yadav is our national president, and we are going to fight the next assembly elections under his name, he added. Earlier, it was reported that Akhilesh had agreed to step down from a position in coup d'état if he is still given free-hand to handle the party politics and Shiv Pal doesn’t interfere.

Ram Gopal further said, “There is no confusion on our side, as the matter of party symbol goes, it is for ED to decide.”
