Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the Uri terrorist attack and saluted the brave soldiers of the Indian army who sacrificed their lives battling the terrorists.

Terrorist attack on Uri Army camp in J-K: As it happened

Militants stormed a battalion headquarters of the Army at Uri, 102 kms from Srinagar, in the wee hours on Sunday, with explosions and heavy gunfire heard at the spot.

17 soldiers died in terrorist attack in Uri (J&K). Total four terrorists killed in the operation. Combing operations are in progress.

The attack began at around 0400 hours and the number of militants was believed to be three.

Immediately after the militants entered the camp, explosions and exchange of heavy fire were heard from inside, official sources said.
