Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Tamil Nadu visit on Thursday would be without any public road show as some opposition parties and pro-Tamil outfits in Tamil Nadu will hold a black flag protest against PM's visit to the state.
This comes a day after the main opposition party, DMK, asked people to hoist black flags atop their houses to oppose his visit.
PM Modi has inaugurate India's mega defence exhibition - the Defexpo- at Thiruvidanthai, about 40 km from Chennai.
Meanwhile, T Velmurugan, coordinator of Tamizhar Vazhvurimai Koottamaippu, an umbrella body of pro-Tamil outfits including 'May 17', announced a 'black balloon-cum-black flag' protest against Modi's visit.
The balloons have been released at Meenambakkam in the airport's vicinity and "several other locations."
The black flag protest took place at the Alandur Metro Rail Station, Velmurugan told reporters.
DMK's working president M K Stalin urged Tamil people to hoist black flags and wear black badges as a mark of protest.
